Haniszewska-Kandulski Duo

Haniszewska-Kandulski Duo arised in 2008. The members are: Sandra Haniszewska – graduate from I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan (Poland) from a violin class of prof. Jadwiga Kaliszewska and dr Jakub Haufa with Tomasz Kandulski – graduate from Poznan’s Academy from a guitar class of prof. Piotr Zaleski.

In 2008 they both graduated from Conservatorium Maastricht (The Netherlands) from classes led by virtuosos – Boris Belkin (violin) and Carlo Marchione (guitar). Right now they are students of prestigious Konzertexamen post-graduate studies at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar (Germany) in a violin-guitar class led by prof. Tomasz Zawierucha.

The Duo has played many concerts in Poland and abroad as well as performed with orchestras. Artists have in their repertory pieces written originally for violin and guitar, but they also do their own transcriptions. Duo play all kinds of music and styles – from baroque, through romance, till contemporary music, which they both specialize in.

Duo is also successful in competitions. More important achievements are:
– 3rd International Competition for Chamber Music with Guitar in Aschaffenburg (Germany, March 2014) – 2nd prize
– 11th International Guitar Competition Luys Milan in Ontinyent (Spain, December 2012) – 1st prize
– 13th International Guitar Competition Niccolo Paganini in Parma (Italy, March 2011) – 1st prize
– 7th International Guitar Competition Premio Enrico Mercatali in Gorizia (Italy, June 2010) – 1st prize
– 13th International Contemporary Chamber Music Competition in Cracow (Poland, August 2009) – 3rd prize
– International Multiinstrumental IBLA Grand Prize competition in Ragusa (Italy, July 2009) – distinction

In 2010 Haniszewska-Kandulski Duo obtained a “Mloda Polska” scholarship, in 2011 – Poznan’s Artistic Scholarship and in 2013 Young Art Medal awarded by Glos Wielkopolski.

In April 2012 the ensemble's debut CD Tintinnabuli. Modern music for violin and guitar was released by QBK Records from Szczecin. The recording consists of contemporary chamber music written originally for violin and guitar, as well as transcriptions of pieces from XX and XXI century by such composers as: A.J. Lanman, A. Ourkouzounov, J. Bauer, M. Pasieczny and A. Pärt.
